ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) is hesitating to take action against officials including senior officers who allegedly hold fake degrees while new political administration of civic body facing complicated situation in this respect.
Sources said that NAB and FIA have been sending attention-call notices to CDA for two years but the civic body did not verify degrees of its employees. FIA has registered cases against three CDA employees who hold fake degrees.
Meanwhile more than 50 officials have also registered FIRs for allegedly missing degrees to avoid any action against them. CDA authorities, earlier, did not take any action against five divers who hold fake licenses and put matter under the carpet.
Degree verification process of over 2,000 senior officers and 7,000 employees of CDA have not been completed since many years. It is pertinent to mention here that about 40 percent CDA employees “have been having suspicious degrees”.
Former Chairman CDA had established “Degree Verification Cell” in the civic body in 2013 under the supervision of Member Administration Amir Ali Ahmed to verify the degrees of the officials working in BPS-16 and below.
50 CDA employees, who have registered FIRs for their allegedly missing certificates, did not bother to obtain duplicate or copy of original degrees from respective educational boards or universities.
CDA authorities have been adopted criminal “silence” policy over the issue while this is big challenge for new CDA chairman Sheikh Ansar Aziz to make civic body corruption free.
