ISLAMABAD: A significant majority of Pakistanis — 75 percent — believe that there was no harm in celebrating Mother’s Day, according a survey carried out by the Gilani Research Foundation under Gallup Pakistan.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across four provinces was asked, “Some people are of the opinion that celebrating Mother’s Day is a ritual of the West and should not be celebrated by Muslims, while some say that this is not the case and it can be celebrated by everyone”.
In response around 75 per cent of respondents said that Muslims should celebrate the Mother’s Day, 23 per cent said that they should not celebrate it while 2 per cent said that they did not know, or did not wish to respond.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1,802 men and women in rural and urban areas of all the four provinces.
